A Taste of France

A gastronomic event tookplace at the home of Gobaith’s chair in the summer. The theme, as suggested inthe title, was to taste some the best food that France can offer. Cheeses, pates, mussels (British of course)and wines were some of the delights on offer. The supporters who attended therepast raised a marvellous total of £1,050. Nat.West Bank (Wrexham Branch)

As part of this bank’sCommunity Fund Programme, Gobaith were invited to hold charity events in itsfoyer. A tombola and cake stand was inplace to welcome customers and invite them enjoy. Four such events have beenheld and a magnificent total of £1,926has been raised, which included a donation of £250 by the bank. Gobaith wish tothank the generous support given by Nat West customers, the staff and themanagers at the branch. Read more..

A successful quiz night was againheld at St Mary’s Social Club. Supporters of Gobaith, family and friends formedteams and through a combination of intellect, good luck and humour raised atotal of £269 all of which went into the charity’s funds. Despite the onset of winter, the young children of St Mary's Primary School in Wrexham are continuing their support for the IF / OS Campaign to draw attention to the inequalities in the world which could be dramatically improved IF only we and our government would alter our thinking about how our habits and policies affect the peoples of the Developing World - see the previous entry from July 2013 for more details. In January 2014 a group of five supporters of the charity will, at their own expense, be visiting Ethiopia in order to see for themselves the progress that has been made both in the school, where we support the feeding programme for the nursery children, and the Youth Centre and Library, where support has been given for books, furnishings and ongoing educational projects. Fund Raising

Our thanks to all who attended our recent events - a Coffee Morning at Capel y Groes on 7th September and Gordon's Quiz at St Mary's Club on 1st November. Each raised considerable funds for the projects in Ethiopia. Our thanks to the elders of Capel y Groes and the management of St Mary's Club for the use of their facilities.
